Barneys Cancelled Jay Z's Launch Party

The launch party for Jay Z's holiday collab with Barneys has been canceled...

Barneys announced yesterday that the party for Jay Z's holiday collection had been canceled "due to unforeseen circumstances."

And by "unforeseen circumstances" they mean the racial profiling allegations brought by two Black shoppers who claimed they had been unlawfully detained after making purchases at the high end retailer and the backlash that followed.

Earlier this week Jay Z released a statement saying he was moving forward with the collection in spite of the allegations and that 100% of the proceeds from his collection would benefit the Shawn Carter Foundation and that 10% of all Barneys sales on Nov 20 would also be donated to his foundation.

Grandfather Kills Grandson Over Dropped Watermelon?

If this is an African American family that headline alone should have the people of Atlanta incensed. The subheading for the story in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution online reads: Dropped watermelon may have led to shooting of wife and child, police say.

I don’t know about you, but I find that use of verbiage both racist and making an attempt to sensationalize a horrendous crime and tragedy. Once again, I’m assuming no white person was involved. If they were, they wouldn’t say anything about the watermelon until later in the story. Thankfully, a smart person was quoted in the report. But then again, they could’ve been used for jokes as well. Last name a coincidence? I don’t think so:

Maggie Beck-Coon, a research and communications coordinator for the Georgia Commission on Family Violence, took exception to police reports that the violence was initiated over a watermelon.

“People are not shot or killed over a dropped watermelon. People shoot their family members when that person is perpetrating domestic violence,” Beck-Coon said in an e-mail.

What the headline and story should have said was the 55-year old grandfather, Robert L. Cook Jr., shot his six-year old grandson during some sort of dispute. No one knows exactly what happened. The neighbors have seen the grandfather “cussing” at the boy in a fierce way, but never imagined it would come to this.

I Know Her Hand Isn't In Her Back Pocket

Fit me for my toe-tag 'cause I'm about to die right now.
I wonder how long it took her to stuff all that inside those britches. The button alone is a G for that! I mean, you can't hate on her attempt to have esteem though, I mean that's apparent by the make-up she's wearing but.......when she went to buy that shirt, the sales clerk knew they didn't run her size, but because the commission was on the line, she left things alone. Same thing with those pants. She know she needed some MC Hammer parachute joints. All that stress on the siems is all types of wrong. This whole thing is ridiculous. Just ridiculous, and then she got the nerve to shove or should I say try to put her hand in her back pocket!!!!..... ROFLMAO!

Mel Gibson

After being pulled over for speeding in July 1996, Gibson launched into a well-publicized, sexist, anti-Semitic diatribe. He was subsequently arrested on the same stop for drunk driving and this mug shot was snapped. Unlike most mug shots, the 50-year-old Hollywood actor definitely looks debonair.

Scottsdale police arrested former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson again in December 2006, this time charging him with drunk driving and possession of cocaine. Tyson, 40, was pulled over outside an Arizona nightclub when his BMW nearly struck a sheriff's cruiser. After failing the field sobriety tests, the police arrested the boxer for driving under the influence. Authorities also found two small bags of cocaine in Tyson's pocket and third bag in his car.
